PyroVore pyrolysis platform

Waste management is a problem for everyone …

There is a different approach. Waste can be sorted at-site and converted to energy for local use.

 PyroVore modular pyrolysis waste-2-energy conversion plants provide a positive mass to energy balance vector for local development:

  • Reduce landfill volumes by 85%
  • Eliminate open-pit burning!
  • Empower communities and create local jobs;
  • Convert bulk waste streams & spent oil to heat  & power;
  • Provide sustainable base load renewable energy for sustainable development.

PyroVore is a proven platform to covert sorted MSW, mixed plastics, C&D waste as well as sludges and solvents ideally for energy recovery or for compliant product destruction.

Accepted waste streams

  • Residential;
  • Commercial;
  • Industrial;
  • ASR;
  • Animal carcass shreds;
  • Medical & Pharmaceutical;
  • Dewatered biosolids sludge;
  • Tire shreds;
  • Hazmat;
  • Biomass shreds.

Environmental performance in full compliance with European, Canadian and Quebec MDDELCC standards

Liquid waste streams can be co-processed as well

  • Spent oil, oil sludge
  • Oil and latex paints
  • Organic solvents
  • Anti-freeze
  • Transformer fluid
  • Organic refrigerants & propellants
  • Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) such as pesticides & herbicides in liquid or solid form

Robust, field proven technology

The pyrolysis tube technology was originally deployed in 2001 to process biomedical waste.

Multiple PyroVore pyrolysis plants have been operational for years on-board Royal Navy aircraft carriers processing a broad range of waste feedstocks.

A PyroVore commercial plant is installed in a UK-based carpet manufacturing plant processing 300 kg/hr of carpet waste.

Resulting char system reject

  • Material balance left as a carbon char and ash;
  • Waste feed stock mass reduction 10% to 15% of original weight;
  • Compliant with EU Industrial Emissions Directive (IED);
  • Inert materials merely heated and passed through the system unaffected, i.e. metals and glass;

Small scale pyrolysis platforms can be supplied in containers for fast deployment as required.

Pyrolysis is an advanced conversion technologies” meaning gasification, pyrolysis, anaerobic digestion or any combination thereof.

  • Pyrolysis means, the thermal degradation of a substance in the absence of any oxidising agent (other than that which forms part of the substance itself) to produce a char and one or both of gas or liquid.
  • Gasification  means the sub stoichiometric oxidation or steam reformation of a substance to produce a gaseous mixture containing two or all of the following: oxides of carbon CO, methane CH4 and hydrogen H2.
  • Combustion is called a process in which all the above processes are involved and consequently stepped through. The end product of the combustion is heat and exhaust gases in the form of carbon dioxide CO2 and water vapor H2O, which are released into the atmosphere.

Waste is yet another form of carbon fit for energy value chains
